Jane Slusark is the head of global communications at Principal Financial Group, a Fortune 250 financial services leader in asset management, retirement, and insurance. In her role, she leads a global team focused on advancing progress against the company’s key strategies through the lens of external, employee, executive, and reputation management communications. Jane has significant experience and expertise in crisis management, mergers and acquisitions, executive communications, and global media relations in the financial services, agriculture, and government sectors. She is also passionate about the development of brand-building, purpose-driven thought leadership and the articulation and activation of a compelling employment brand for Principal.

Jane is also responsible for collaborating with other business and functional leaders as part of the overall brand positioning, business operations and communications initiatives underway. She is a member of the Principal Corporate Planning Group and enterprise brand and marketing leadership team at Principal and sits on the Board of Trustees for the Institute for Public Relations.

Previously, she served as assistant director of global communications, managing PR, media and executive communications for Principal’s emerging market long-term savings and pension business and global asset management business.

Prior to Principal, Jane held communications leadership positions in agriculture, government, and financial services. She earned her Master’s of Public Administration from Drake University and Bachelor’s in Journalism and Political Science from the University of Iowa.
