Sebastian Utz, PhD

Sebastian Utz is an Assistant Professor at the School of Finance of the University of St. Gallen. He holds a master’s degree in mathematics from the University of Augsburg, he obtains his Ph.D. in business administration from the University of Regensburg, and he was a visiting research scholar at the Department of Banking and Finance at the Terry School of Business at the University of Georgia.

Sebastian’s focus research areas are impact investing, sustainable finance, and multi-criteria decision making. His research has been published in leading international journals such as the Operations Research, the European Journal of Operational Research, Review of Managerial Science, and the Review of Financial Economics.

Since 2012, Sebastian is a member of the academic committee CRIC TANK of the society to support ethics and sustainability in investments. Besides to his academic career, Sebastian gained practical experience, among others, at BMW Financial Services and in several consulting projects at financial institutions.
