Becoming a mentor in the RGA Leaders of Tomorrow program gives senior insurance executives the opportunity to support rising industry stars. It’s a meaningful way to share your experience and show your organization’s commitment to leadership excellence, with a time commitment mindful of your executive schedule.
Mentee Criteria
Mentees selected for the RGA Leaders of Tomorrow program meet the following qualifications:
- Be a high-performing emerging or mid-level professional employed by an IIS Global or Corporate Member company.
- Be identified as a high-potential leader with demonstrated capacity for future C-suite advancement.
- Demonstrate a strong record of leadership performance and impact within their organization.
- Exhibit a sustained commitment to professional growth, leadership development, and engagement in the insurance industry.
- Commit to a structured developmental relationship centered on strategic insight and leadership growth, not recruitment or business solicitation.
- Obtain endorsement from their next-level reporting manager.
- Provide a current CV as part of the application.
Mentee Commitment
The program is structured to promote meaningful engagement, intellectual contribution, and leadership development, while ensuring clear expectations and accountability.
- Time Commitment:
- Timely scheduling and thorough preparation for all sessions. Schedule and participate in three (3) mentor-mentee meetings over a six-month period, ensuring timely coordination and thorough preparation for each session.
- Participation in two (2) virtual RGA Leaders of Tomorrow group meetings.
- Role of the Mentee:
- Assume primary responsibility for defining development objectives and shaping the agenda for mentor-mentee discussions.
- Actively seek strategic perspective and candid counsel on leadership, industry issues, and professional growth.
- Demonstrate receptiveness to feedback and a commitment to applying insights gained.
- Engage in the relationship strictly as a developmental opportunity, not for job placement or career transition purposes.
- Thought Leadership Contribution:
- Develop and submit an original paper addressing a strategic industry topic.
- Present key findings during the virtual RGA Leaders of Tomorrow presentation session.
- Program Participation & Recognition:
- One participant will be selected to receive the RGA Leaders of Tomorrow Leadership Award, and two participants will be recognized as Honorable Mentions; the award recipient and honorees will present at the Global Insurance Forum.
- Attend the IIS Global Insurance Forum: Mentees are strongly encouraged to participate in the conference to enrich their program experience and foster deeper engagement with mentors, fellow mentees, and the broader global insurance leadership community.
- Organizational Support & Program Evaluation:
- Secure endorsement from the next-level reporting manager to ensure alignment and organizational support.
- Complete a post-program survey to support continuous improvement of the RGA Leaders of Tomorrow program.
