Boon is Global Head of Reinsurance for HSBC Global Insurance. He is responsible for setting the global reinsurance strategy, develop internal and external reinsurance capabilities within HSBC Global Insurance, and setting up the appropriate governance on reinsurance activities across the entities under HSBC Global Insurance.

Prior to joining HSBC Global Insurance, Boon worked for a multi-national reinsurer group, where his experience spanned across Asia, Canada, US, Bermuda, and Europe, with relevant topics around structured reinsurance solutions, traditional reinsurance, tax and capital optimization, economic capital calibration & modelling, and in-force managements.

Boon graduated with Bachelor Honors in Mathematics from the University of Waterloo, Canada. He is a Fellow of the Society of Actuaries, a Fellow of Canadian Institute of Actuaries, and CERA charter holder.
