Research Network

The Research Network, established in 2015 and administrated by the IIS, facilitates research and consultation services for the risk and insurance industry, particularly IIS members.  Services include:

  • Generation of prompt and timely recommendations (advisory comments) on critical issues in the industry;
  • Coordination of research projects calling for multi-center cooperation;
  • Interlocking research ideas to potential users;
  • Dissemination of key findings via the IIS Global Insurance Forum and other globally recognized channels.

The services are available from and for qualified Member Research Centers. A qualified Center must be active in academic or applied research broadly in risk and insurance. The Research Network hosts 25 academic and 5 industry-affiliated Centers.

Any IIS member or Research Center may submit an inquiry for recommendation or for a potential research project using the Research Request Submission form. Selected projects, subject to the permission of the parties involved, will be posted in Research-in-Progress & Publications.

The Research Network does not interfere with the mission or on-going projects of each Member Research Center’s own. Participation in a Research Network project is voluntary and remains at the discretion of each Center. The IIS does not expect revenue generation from Research Network service.

The Research Network meets annually during the IIS Global Insurance Forum for discussion of research issues as well as presentation of key findings to Forum participants. The IIS may offer academic Member Centers a complimentary registration to the Forum. Prospective research centers may contact W. Jean Kwon, Director of Research, the IIS, and Professor, School of Risk Management, St. John’s University.
